MELT was founded for the Love of Chocolate

MELT Chocolatier was started out of Marjolaine Pastry Shop in New Haven, CT. Meredith Lindsay had been working as a baker there since 2007 and decided she wanted a new creative outlet. The current owner Rusty Hamilton granted her the space to experiment and come up with the recipes that would start MELT. MELT and Marjolaine coexisted on State street under Rusty and then with the new owners Alene and Raul Cardenas, until February of 2017 when MELT moved production to Milford. During that time recipes were refined and new ones were added. MELT grew into what it is today because of the love and ideas that were shared in that kitchen and because of the love of chocolate. We prepare our products for you by hand in small batches. We hope you feel the love that goes into all the work we do.

In the early 2000’s, as a new graduate from Hofstra University (as a political science major) she was looking for work. It wasn’t until her first shift as a culinary intern that she found her inspiration: food! She went on from there to work in refined restaurants and pastry shops always taking a liking to the sweet side of the kitchen. She then went on to focus her attentions more specifically on chocolates and confections and soon after she created MELT Chocolatier. It has since been her passion to create new recipes for your eating pleasure. She loves to make her chocolates feel as though someone made them just for you.
